Fresh and Easy

I must be honest, when Fresh and Easy first opened I thought it was a health food store. I thought the Fresh meant healthy and Easy meant quick. I was surprised to find Totino's Pizza Rolls there. When I got to my sister's house after my trip she informed me that was not the case. Oh well. I did find out that Fresh and Easy did not use high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, artificial flavors,or  added trans fat in any of their food. I was sold. It is easy to run in and grab something quick for lunch such as one of their freshly made sandwiches, salads, or sushi trays. Same thing with dinner, there have been a few times I grab a family meal for dinner.

Since they have released the Friend's Card they make it an even better place to start. You get 1 point per dollar spent, but sometimes they have bonuses. I have cashed in quite a few dollars.

If you need somewhere fast, healthy, and easy to get in and out of Fresh and Easy is the place for you.

**I am part of the Fresh and Easy Campaign from  BZZAgent. What is BZZAgent you ask. San Diego

So last weekend the husband and I decided to go down to San Diego. We started off out trip with a visit to the San Diego Zoo. I have not been there since sometime around 1985 so everything was new to me..

This guy was about 6 feet away with the barrier being some kind of metal net. I wanted to reach in and pet him, but I didn't because I like my fingers

This elephant had just gotten his pedicure and was probably showing off his nice nails. Elephants receive pedicures at the zoo because their feet are prone to infection and they must be taken care of to keep them healthy.

A Meercat, I thought it was a large ferret. I wanted one so bad...

A shy lion, she would not turn towards the front to allow me to get a good picture.

I wanted this polar bear too.

Pandas are so much bigger in person.

A mom and her baby hippo. The baby was a year old and weighed a lot!

A tired tiger.

There was a baby giraffe born the night before we got there, sadly it never made an appearance outside.

What is worse that a snake? A two headed snake, CREEPY!
That was the end of the San Diego Zoo. We were there for 5 hours and still never got to see everything. I highly recommend taking the bus tour. It is included in the price of the ticket and from the top level you can see everything.

The next day we drove up to San Clemente so my husband could get work done on his tattoo at San Clemente Tattoo. It is a nice shop that does wonderful work. While he got his sleeve worked on I read a book. Once we got back to Encinitas (35 miles north of San Diego) it was time to make dinner plans. We decided to go to Casa Guadalajara for some good Mexican food and huge margaritas. We noticed that we were close the the Coaster Station and decided to see if we could public transit it. After reading the maps we decided that we could take the Coaster from Encinitas to Old Town San Diego for only $22.00 total and it took about 40 minutes each way. Not bad considering we wouldn't be stuck in traffic, have to find parking, and then pay for parking.
The husband waiting for the Coaster.

A view of the Pacific Ocean from the Coaster somewhere around Solana Beach.

Margaritas! The one on the left was a 32oz strawberry for only $7.95 and the one on the right was a medium peach for $6.95. I knew I wouldn't finish a large one.

Waiting at Old Town Station for the Coaster home. This is a trolley that runs in certain parts of San Diego. I have ridden these before and found them to be quite reliable.

The next night we went back into downtown San Diego to have dinner with my cousins and to go to a concert. We got to see Old Man Markley and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Sadly, I did not get pictures of that night. The next day I was forced to drive home from San Diego an experience that I never want to have again. It is not fun driving 75 on the freeway and seeing something bounce out of some guys truck, come directly at you, and you have no where to go. Luckily it hit the bumper and went under the car. We did have some damage but it was fixable and no one got hurt.

Unreal Candy

Before I was offered a campaign on BzzAgent I had no idea what Unreal Candy was.
Click on the picture to go to the webpage I checked out the website and was astonished at the nutritional value comparisons they had on there.
Take their version of M&M's. The candy is made with no corn syrup, no artificial ingredients, no GMO's (genetically modified organism), no preservatives, and has a low glycemic index (good news for me, since I am diabetic). I bought the UN 41 to try and share at work tomorrow for a meeting. They are tasty.  They do not taste the same as M&M's to me, they taste like chocolate chips or Sno-Caps. When compared side by side the break down speaks for itself:
                            UN 41              Peanut M&M's
Serving Size         42 grams              47.9 grams
Calories               190                      230
Sugar                   19G                     31G
Total Fat              10G                       9G
Carbs                   24G                     34G
Fiber                    3G                         1G
Protein                 4G                         2G

They also have versions of Peanut M&M's, Snickers, Milky Way, and Peanut Butter cups.
Are you ready to unjunk your candy?

I love that the shells are not the same color as M&M's.

**I learned of this candy via BZZAgent. What is BZZAgent you ask. BZZAgent is a company that helps other companies get their products and services noticed using a word of mouth method. It is pretty awesome. I have been involved in quite a few campaigns. **

Our First Anniversary and some good news.

Tuesday was our first anniversary. It was hard to believe that we have already been married one year. He was looking forward to eating our cake and I was looking forward to gaining freezer space back. He took it out, unwrapped the many layers, and this is what we saw.
It still looked pretty good. We both grabbed forks and dug in and it tasted WONDERFUL. It was made by a friend of my aunt named Kathy and I must say she did awesome work. Later that night we traveled up to Mount Charleston, a short 30 minute drive from Las Vegas. We were able to book a room, 2 dinners, and 2 breakfasts for $99.00. It was nice to get away from the heat since it was 25 degrees cooler up there. My sneaky husband also added this little treat.
I devoured the strawberries, even though I am not supposed to eat them anymore. The champagne was good too, we only drank half and brought the rest home.

Now for the best part of the anniversary, my husband was rehired. He will be back at the same school he was at last year.

Sleeping...Rambling...Nonsense

Ever since school let out for the summer my sleep schedule has been off. Last night I went to bed at 10:30 p.m., not bad right? I woke up at 12:00 a.m.!! I am going crazy.

I am getting a little cabin fever. Usually when school gets out we take at least a mini vacation. However since the husband lost his job, we put our vacation plans on hold. We were/are (depending on the status of him getting rehired) driving from Las Vegas to Williamsport, P.A., 2353 miles. We must be crazy.

This was us a few years ago in Oakland, C.A. we headed up there to catch a Giants game, then we headed across the bay to see an A's game. Good fun!

Laid Off

So we found out for sure today that my husband was laid off. Our school district has issues budgeting their money. They wanted to take back raises from teachers or they threatened to issue pink slips. People got to keep their raises, my husband is out a job. I am not upset at those that needed to keep their raises, because I am one of them. They wanted to take it back in one lump sum, which would mean at least 1 full paycheck gone, if not two. So as of right now, we are looking at making our money last. Looks like the cross country vacation will be canceled. He is so bummed, I wish I could cheer him up. Any ideas for cheering up a man who was just laid off?

Way to go Matt

My cousin, well cousin-in-law, got drafted in the Major League Baseball draft. He was picked in the 20th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. His first stop is A ball in Florida, guess I know where our next family vacation will take us. We are going to California on Saturday to say bye, as he needs to report Sunday. I am super proud of him, he is an awesome pitcher and I know he will do great things. Matt and Damian, the husband, on our wedding day.

Bzz and Garnier Fructis

So my latest campaign is for Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. At first I thought about not participating, since in the past I did not like the Garnier Fructis brand. The very first time I tried it my hair ended up dry and straw like, but this was also a few years ago. So I get the free sample package from BzzAgent, I was surprised at the full size shampoo and conditioner. Since I am a BzzAgent I receive free products to try and then share my opinions with other people. I smelled the shampoo, smelled the conditioner, and then stuck them in the shower. I waited until the weekend to try them, just in case I ended up with the same results as before. Boy, was my mind blown when I did try it. My hair was soft, non frizzy, and smelled great. I am thinking about making the switch from my current brand to Garnier Fructis.

What do you do?

What do you do when you see someone make so many mistakes? You try to guide them down the path they say they want. They get mad and tell you to leave them alone. You leave them alone, they make mistakes, they want to cry on your shoulder. They ask you what they did wrong, how to fix it. You reply. They become offensive again and try to place blame on you. Now you see them making more mistakes, you walk away. You are sick of the games that are played, you are tired of being told "You're a stupid bitch." Your done. The only thing that I can come up with is walking away. Leave the drama behind, don't talk to me, and I will not talk to you. On a different note, first semester of Master's classes is almost done. Two assignments, one more class each, and the semester is done. Only a few more years to go. Cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel just yet. However, I know it is out there.

Ramblings

So, I quit. Quit taking the Chantix that is. I keep forgetting, it wasn't working.

Classes this semester are almost over, whoo. I am finally starting to understand a little of what is going on in my educational psychology class. And my multicultural class is AWESOME.

Not much else is going on.

Chantix

So my doctor has told me I need to quit smoking. He gave me a prescription for Chanix back in October. I picked it up, read about the side effects and thought to myself WTF. Every time I see my doctor he asks me if I started it. I told him am worried about the side effects. Some people have become depressed, easily agitated, suicidal, and the list goes on. He wanted me to try. I started taking it on 1/17/2012. Now for the first week you smoke as much as you want while taking it. The purpose right now is to let it build up in your system. When you start the second week you are supposed to stop smoking. This is where I am at right now. I still feel the need to smoke. Not as often, but I still do. Thursday and Friday I only had four cigarettes, which is cutting back for me. Today so far I have had none. I want one and I will have one. Just trying to make it on my terms. I think the fact that I do not want to quit is why it is not working the way it should. Some people who have written reviews on it said they smoked for the first month.

My main problem is I do not know what to do with myself. I have become more fidgety. I have done two needle points in the past two days. I am trying to keep myself busy, but all I want to do is go sit on the porch or eat. Right now I need to be working on a paper for school, but I am not. I am writing about how much I like to smoke. Advice? Not that anyone is reading my blog yet...

Are you Smarterer?

Yes I know that I am a teacher and that smarterer is not a word, but check this out.

This website lets you answer questions and compare yourself to others. Personally I have taken the BZZAgent, Facebook Disney Movies, Harry Potter, 80's trivia, Angry Birds, and Twilight tests. Can you guess which one I scored highest in?

I learned of this website via BZZAgent. What is BZZAgent you ask. BZZAgent is a company that helps other companies get their products and services noticed using a word of mouth method. It is pretty awesome. I have been involved in quite a few campagins. The last service I reviewed before Smarterer was About.Me, check that post out here. The last product I reviewed was Burt's Bees.

Graduate School

So I leave for my first graduate class tonight, well in about 30 minutes. I am nervous, I do not know what to expect. This class is not taught by someone in my department so it is even worse. The Monday class will be hard, but the professor is kick ass. Now tonight's class, I do not know this professor. I do not have a syllabus, I do not have the book. I am going to feel so stupid. I am already lost and wishing I could just 'buy' my Master's Degree.

When is it ok to be jealous?

I admit, I have a plan. I want my Master's degree before I start having kids. I just think that it will be better then trying to juggle doing that and raising kids. ...but...I see pregnant people, and I am jealous. I see people with babies, and I am jealous. I see my nephews, and I am jealous. I want one. One of my own. I almost feel selfish. ::Sigh:: I know that my dad has my back...most other people in my family would be ok if I got knocked up. My husband keeps telling me that I am running out of time. I am older than him so I see where it is coming from...still I know I am on the right track...

Facebook and Bullsh*t

Is there a nice way of denying someone on Facebook? Someone I know has one and I know soon I am going to be receiving a friend request, but I do not want to accept it. I cannot decline this request so I guess I have to figure out how to make their access to my information on a limited basis. There is too much drama on Facebook. Exes harassing their exes; current spouses, boyfriends and girlfriends harassing their other's exes. It is immature and stupid. I am friends with one of my exes and his girlfriend has a huge problem with it. I have told her numerous times, I DO NOT WANT HIM, but he has cheated on her before with lots of girls so I get it. The two times we did hang out years ago when they were broken up she knew about. 'Course he did not tell her, she emailed and asked me. I told her. I was not hiding anything. Last time he told me they were going to try and get back together again, I wished him luck. I told him to stop talking to other bitches. Have not talked to him since. I hate when people try and hide something from their SO on Facebook, I have nothing to hide from my husband. And if he thought I did, he knows my log in information.

Tuesday...

It was so hard to get out of bed this morning. Being a teacher gives you wonderful vacation time, but just like the kids it is hard to get back into the everyday routine. I think the most sleep I got last night was between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00 am. Today work was filled with talks of what Santa brought from the kids and how tired everyone was. I did something smart though, I bought a coffee pot for work. Now I do not have to drag multiple travel mugs of coffee everyday! One other thing that got me through today was a song called For Better, For Worse by Old Man Markley. Check it out!

New Years Day

Today has been uneventful. The husband and I went to JC Penny's to return a necklace, it was pretty, just not for me. Then to a local place called Rocco's Italian Deli for lunch and then to my mom's house to build K'nex toys with my nephew. NEVER buy K'nex, they stink! Last night of winter break, back to teaching on Tuesday.

New Years Eve...con't

...so we went and sat at a hotel on the strip forever because parking was going to be a nightmare.

We walked and walked to try and find somewhere to eat before a migraine hit. Did not work I got a migraine, ate some food, took some four dollar ibuprofen from a gift shop, and headed into the House of Blues. My head throbbed through Old Man Markly (different kind of band, but I liked it.) and Lagwagon. NOFX finally hit the stage at 11:45 p.m. and they were good. I was happy my headache was starting to subside by then. All in all a good New Years with my husband.
